Saudi success for DIS

SAUDI ARABIA: Danish Interpretation Systems is celebrating the use of its conferencing systems in Saudi Arabia after a successful visit to some of its projects in the Kingdom.

The first project was at Saudi Aramco’s newly renovated auditorium at the Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Center (EXPEC) in Dhahran. Here Electronic Special Equipment (ESE) has installed 140 of the manufacturer’s DCS 6000 system conference units.

The project had its challenges, such as integrating the conferencing electronics into the armrest of an auditorium chair unobtrusively. To achieve this, ESE coordinated a direct link between DIS and Race Furniture Limited in the UK. By exchanging samples the ‘perfect fit’ was guaranteed before the installation took place.

As two delegates share one microphone, an HM 4042 handheld mic connected to a MU 6040 electronic box is provided in each second chair. All units are connected to a CU 6011 control unit with Cat-5e cabling. DIS SW 6000 software was delivered with necessary microphone and mimic control as well as with the agenda handling module, display and external control application.

A second completed project for the manufacturer in the Kingdom has seen around 200 DIS conference systems installed into Princess Noura Bint Abdulrahman University for women (PNU) in Riyadh. Following the completion of the various projects the manufacturer’s partners have been involved with across the site, DIS general manager Thomas Frederiksen and area sales manager Chris Hellmuth visited PNU to see the work.

‘What we saw was just amazing,’ said Mr Hellmuth. ‘The dimensions of PNU are unbelievable and we’re very proud that DIS equipment has been chosen for the auditoriums and meeting rooms,’ he enthused. ‘The DCS 6000 technology works perfectly throughout the whole campus and the design of DC 6190P conference units fits excellently on the tables. But most important is that our customer and the end user are happy with our hardware, software and support.’
