Soliflex designs systems for Asian Cup football stadia

QATAR: Swedish audio consultancy Soliflex has completed two stadium projects for the Asian Cup football in Doha in just six weeks. The systems for both stadia rely on speakers from Renkus-Heinz and system control from MediaMatrix.
Soliflex was contracted for the system design, testing and commissioning for the sound systems at the 25,000-seat Al-Rayyan stadium and the Al-Gharafa stadium with Al Tamez handling the installation. The project’s short timescale was due to a late decision on the tournament dates, but according to Soliflex senior advisor Jan Setterberg, ‘Al Tamez was able to do a great job in this short time’.
The system is based around IC Live speakers from Renkus Heinz. Each stadium has 16 IC-Live 8 weather protected speakers which are supplemented in the VIP area with two ICL215-S subs. All speaker processing is handled internally using Rhaon as the platform for DSP and monitoring of the speakers via a PC.
Control comes from a MediaMatrix Nion nX which provides Cobranet to the speaker system. Completing the setup is a Yamaha 01V96 desk, a Tascam CD and HD recorder and a wireless mic package from Shure. The stadia also have an analogue backup via two Sonifex RB-DA6 distribution amps as well as switches from RuggedCom to cope with the high temperature.
