KENYA: Sound Creations brought the Avid Venue SC48 to Kenya for the first time to demonstrate the console at Kenya Music Week. The demonstrations also led to a first sale, with one of Kenya’s major rental companies purchasing the desk.
The eighth annual edition of the show held in December attracted around 8,000 visitors to the Nairobi venue over its four days. It was a young crowd consisting of producers, broadcasters, distributors and musicians, and Sound Creations’ Nipul Shah described the event as excellent. ‘The few live sound engineers we have in this country could not believe that we actually brought this mixer which they only see in magazines or online,’ stated Mr Shah.
‘Kenyan audio engineers mainly use analogue consoles, but there's more and more interest in digital desks,’ added Avid’s Mathieu Rouxel. ‘When Nipul from sound Creations decided to import the first Venue in the country it was like a test for both of us. But as soon as the engineers saw the console in action and had the chance to get their hands on it, a first company decided to invest.’
