Sound Stylists uses Coda for FaKing

SOUTH AFRICA: Sound Stylists provided a Coda Audio Airline LA12 system for FaKing, a two-hour musical extravaganza in celebration of Afrikaans punk rock band Fokofpolisiekar’s 10th anniversary. The gig took place at Johannesburg’s Emperors Palace and saw performances from Fokofpolisiekar and FaKing.
Sound Stylists was commissioned to provide a full turnkey solution for this event. The Centre Court’s low roof – approximately 4m in height – and a drop off at around 30m from the stage offered a few technical challenges for event. ‘The usual solution for this would be the use of delay towers,’ said Sound Stylists’ Nicky Bohn, ‘but we decided to take a different approach – Coda.’
On either side of the stage, the rental house stacked six Coda LA12 3-way, high-output line array modules and four SC8 sensor controlled subwoofers. Power was courtesy of Camco V8 amps. According to Sound Stylists, this setup was ‘the only solution to offer high SPL without delays’, and the entire PA system exceeded its client’s expectations.
‘The system performed admirably under such limiting circumstances, ensuring the perfect sound for both rock bands,’ concluded Ms Bohn.
