Stagetec licences Isostem for Nexus

WORLD: Stagetec Mediagroup has announced plans to cooperate with Dspecialists on its Isostem processing platform. The upmix and downmix algorithm used in the system will be licensed to Stagetec for use with its Nexus audio network system, and will reportedly be available on the XDSP DSP board.
Isostem is an upmix system designed to generate full surround sound mixes from stereo sources in real-time. The manufacturer states that it is ‘the only upmix system that is fully compatible with stereo, delivering a surround stem that downmixes exactly to the original stereo mix’. The algorithm employed in the Nexus system is stated to be the same as that employed in Dspecialists’ hardware version 'Live', however individual presets will need to be created in the hardware version and imported to the Nexus’s Isostem plugin.
