Studio 18 relies on RME

TURKEY: Istanbul-based recording studio, Studio 18, is benefitting from a variety of equipment from RME. The studio has been a long-term user of the German manufacturer’s equipment and cites sound quality as its most important parameter.
‘We need high-class converters so that we can have good performances on the multiple channel recordings and produce soft, clear and real sounds within the large dynamics. This converter also must be rock solid and work with the DAWs without any problems,’ explained Levent Buyuk, owner, engineer and producer at Studio 18. ‘I can easily say that RME RayDAT (as the sound card) and M-16 AD and M-32 DA (as the converters) are all beyond our demands! The high quality sound and the build of the converters, RayDAT’s integration with our MAC computer and the advantages of the flexibility of the “Total Mix” have directed us to RME.
‘We think the “matrix” idea of the Total Mix is a very clever,’ continued Mr Buyuk. ‘The limiter on the M-16 AD is an extra bonus for us; it has saved us when the uncontrolled peaks of a good performance could have meant throwing the recording to the bin! Those are the reasons why we have chosen RayDAT and M-16/32 converters for our system.’
The use of RayDAT and the M Series converters has been a relatively new addition for the studio, and Mr Buyuk is happy with the shift. ‘After listening to the combination of RayDAT and M-Series converters, we could not resist to change our system as the RME products have the sound we were looking,’ he explained. ‘We had also seen that there were serious advantages such as practicability, performance and the sound quality between the system we had been using and the RMEs.
‘RME products are definitely rock solid and compatible with all DAWs and have the needed dynamics and clarity. We heavily suggest them to the studios who need multi-channel recording like we have and who care the acoustic instruments and the organic sound. Once you have that experience, you cannot live without them,’ he concluded.
