Success for Midas in South Africa leads to training tour

SOUTH AFRICA: Midas’ South African distributor Prosound (PTY), reports it has seen an unprecedented number of South Africa’s performance venues purchase Midas Pro consoles. ‘They are selling like hot cakes!’ said Prosound’s Mark Malherbe.

‘We’ve sold five Pro9 consoles within the last three months, around 15 Pro2s and a couple of Pro3s,’ he added. This growth in sales saw Midas technical sales manager, Jason Kelly along with Mr Malherbe visit South Africa for training in Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Durban and Cape Town.

‘We visited all of the major cities of South Africa to deliver what we called the “Prosound Live” training and advice event,’ continued Mr Malherbe. ‘The Midas Pro3, Pro6, and Pro9 digital consoles are all hugely successful in South Africa and with the recent additions of the Pro2, Pro2C - and even more recently the Pro1 – Midas is affordable to an even larger sector of the audio industry.

‘People are amazed with the functionality of the Pro Series and the fact that the sound quality remains the same as it always has,’ he continued. ‘Hardcore analogue Midas users seem to really like the Midas Pro series.’

The training tour began in Johannesburg with ‘Live@The Prosound Live Room’ where local bands Shadow Club and Cold Water Morning performed sets that showcased the latest Pro-series features to an audience of sound engineers and designers.

Next was the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State’s sound department, Bloemfontein, which recently purchased two Pro9 and three Pro2 consoles. The Midas team delivered an advanced training workshop and also took the opportunity to introduce the Pro1.

The next raining location was in Durban followed by Cape Town’s Artscape Theatre, which recently installed two Pro9 consoles. Attendees were given the opportunity to experience a hands on live experience, and the team also delivered an advanced training workshop which spanned two days. This was complemented by a number of other industry seminars.

‘First, a huge thank you to everyone who attended the Midas seminars in South Africa,’ said Mr Kelly. ‘It was amazing to meet so many fantastic people. The interest in the Pro Series family has been phenomenal and the Pro1 has been particularly well received. Visiting four cities in five days took its toll but with over 100 professionals attending, there’s no room for complaint!’
