SuperSport turns to C2S in Kenya

KENYA: UK-based broadcast systems integrator C2S Systems has commenced integration for a new 12-camera HD outside broadcast system for SuperSport in Kenya.  The deal follows delivery of two 22-camera OB units to the organisation’s Nigerian operation in September.

The system, due for delivery in April, promises to be a challenging design for C2S Systems. SuperSport has briefed the systems integrator to create a hybrid of OB truck and flyaway, with the flyaway able to be de-rigged from the vehicle for stand-alone use in remote locations. While this kind of ‘rack and roll’ model has been previously used by the channel in older SD OB units, C2S Systems will redesign the concept and augment the system to have enhanced power and functionality.

‘In the system design, we’re concentrating on streamlining the operability of the unit while giving power and versatility to the original idea,’ said Jonathan Lyth, head of projects at C2S Systems. ‘The concept is intended to provide the best of both worlds for SuperSport: The comfort of an OB vehicle with the convenience of a flyaway. Our job is to ensure it’s even better than that, in both form and function.’

‘This deal is the direct result of a fantastic working relationship with C2S Systems for our operations at SuperSport,’ added Andre Venter, director of SuperSport Media Solutions Africa. ‘We’ve worked with them on a number of projects already, including some very challenging and innovative integrations, so the C2S team has a first-hand sensibility of our technical and operational requirements here in Africa. We’re looking forward to seeing the results.’
