Talking broadcast
Published: MEA
UAE: The first IBC Content Everywhere MENA has got underway in Dubai with an emphasis on bringing the local broadcast industry together to discuss pertinent issues.
With two large presentation spaces and a conference programme filled with the content on the latest in visual technology, IP and content monetisation there is a clear focus on discussing the visual side of the industry. Initial reports suggest that the programme has been popular, with busy sessions throughout the day. Networking is also a key aspect of the show, with time in the schedule and spaces on the show floor dedicated to facilitating this.
There is also a small but high-quality exhibition running alongside the conference. Again, there is little on show in terms of audio but manufacturers such as Argosy, Imagine Communications, Quantel Snell and Sony are all present to discuss their solutions. One particular highlight is on the NHK booth, where the broadcaster is demonstrating 8K technology.
Exhibitor reaction to the first day has been largely positive. The morning session was busy and people reported seeing visitors throughout the day. The consensus was that for the first day of the first outing of this event, it had been worthwhile.
One major downside of the show is the lack of audio content. If you are heading to IBC Content Everywhere MENA wanting to see and discuss audio products, you may leave disappointed. This is something that it would be nice to see addressed in future editions of the event.
IBC Content Everywhere MENA takes place at the Madinat Jumeirah Arena until January 22nd.
