TechRig highlights internship advantages

SOUTH AFRICA: Technical solutions agency, TechRig is extolling the virtue of internships in the A/V industry. The agency describes internships as ‘under-utilised in the A/V industry’ and states that ‘they are a win-win scenario giving students and new graduates an opportunity to start their careers with on-the-job-training, while simultaneously allowing A/V companies to have an ongoing source of possible employees who develop an understanding of the company and the job descriptions’.

TechRig has recently developed an internship programme that allows students to do their practical studies by tying up with recognised institutions. ‘It’s great for beginners in the industry to have experience with a reputable company that has a wide variety of activations,’ explained TechRig CEO Michael Collyer. ‘Internship programmes allow you to effectively manage your workflow to accomplish immediate objectives and find new team members which can ultimately grow your business.’

In terms of student benefits, TechRig points to numerous perks from becoming an intern: ‘they gain experience, develop skills, make connections, strengthen their resumes, learn about a field, and assess their interest and abilities’. While for A/V companies it cites benefits including test-driving talent, increased productivity, low-cost labour and enhancing the local workforce.

‘Internships give employers an opportunity to train up potential employees in keeping with their best practices while they rack up good CV-building experience’, concluded Tonia-Jade Sayers head of operations for TechRig Technical Solutions Agency.
