TURKMENISTAN: Turkish construction company Polimeks İnşaat ve Sanayi A.Ş staged a New Year Show in Ashgabat at the Turkmenistan Ice Hockey Arena. Controlling the lighting for the spectacular were an MA Lighting grandMA2 full-size console, a grandMA2 light plus and an MA NPU (Network Processing Unit) with 16-year old lighting designer and programmer Umut Yurtseven at the helm.
‘In my opinion MA Lighting manufactures the best lighting control solutions in the industry,’ stated Mr Yurtseven. ‘It gives me the power and the possibility of creating the shows I want to create.’ The lighting designed called on a multitude of moving lights, including 46 Claypaky Sharpys, 24 Alpha Spot HPE 1200 fictures and 24 Alpha Wash 1200s, among others.
The lighting equipment was supplied by Phantom Event Engineering, the MA Lighting consoles originally acquired from the manufacturer’s exclusiv distributor in Turkey, SF SES VE Isik Sistemleri A.S. Working alongside Mr Yurtseven was Serdar Özgür, who served as a lighting operator.
‘The continuous development of the software is just great as we, the users, can evolve our shows further and let our imaginations run free,’ concluded the Mr Yurtseven. ‘Over the years I’ve become pretty familiar with MA’s products – I started using the grandMA2 onPC software when I was nine years old so you can say that I grew up with the system.’
