UAE: Dubai-based systems integrator, Pulse Middle East, has installed a Turbosound and Powersoft audio system to handle background and foreground music at DIFC restaurant and lounge, Clé. The venue has also called for an innovative projection solution.

The system installed by Pulse consists of 42 Turbosound TCX 8 passive two-way speakers and a further 16 TCX 15B 15-inch passive subs. Power is via a variety of Powersoft amplifiers. Pulse installed six of the manufacturer’s M50Q, three K3 and a pair of M28Q units to power the system. Control is courtesy of four Turbosound LMS D26 digital loudspeaker management systems.

‘It’s a huge place which is why we needed around 20 cabinets per side,’ said Pulse managing partner Joe Chidiac. ‘The main challenge was the amount of glass in the venue. Also the ceiling was low and we wanted to hide the speakers as much as possible whilst still having an even coverage. With proper tuning and equalising we have made it sound nice and the client loves it.’

The projection is taken care of by nine Epson EB435 short throw projectors. ‘We’ve done the blending to create one seamless image on the walls,’ noted Mr Chidiac. ‘We originally looked at large LED screens, but opted for projection instead. They painted the walls black and the images look great on them.’

Mr Chidiac is clearly happy with the end result. ‘It sounds very good, it is a reference for us. You can sit and have a conversation easily, but the system can also be turned up quite loud. People are enjoying it.’
