Turkish airport turns to Bosch for PAVA

TURKEY: The International Terminal of the Adnan Menderes Airport in Izmir is relying on a Praesideo system from Bosch for its PA/VA. The solution was installed by Bosch partner Ateksis.

The fully digital public address and voice evacuation system allows the broadcast of different live and pre-recorded messages in 100 different zones throughout the building. Praesideo adjusts the volume according to the noise level in the terminal to achieve the highest possible sound quality and speech intelligibility. The system also allows the full integration of third-party services, as well as interconnecting with the fire alarm system.

‘Praesideo’s technical capabilities were of course decisive – however, its design also played a role when choosing the product,’ explained Feray Top, product marketing manager public address and conference systems at Bosch Security Systems. ‘Since the terminal features outstanding, award-winning architecture, products were required that wouldn’t affect the aesthetic appearance of the building.’

After measuring noise levels in all areas of the terminal, Ateksis installed 187 horn loudspeakers, four LP1-UC20E sound projectors and 15 LBC3200/00 and LBC3200/10 line array loudspeakers. Thirty-two Praesideo Power amplifiers are in use to handle the power requirements of the loudspeakers, while 30 ambient microphones monitor the crowded areas of the building. A total of 18 call stations were positioned at the information desks and emergency exits. The network controller is combined with the fire alarm system and programmed to cope with all the various scenarios encountered in the terminal. Moreover, thanks to Praesideo’s open interface, the Flight Information System and the Central Database System were integrated in the public address system.
