Turkish Parliament installs JTS

TURKEY: The Turkish Parliament has installed a new gooseneck microphone system from Taiwanese manufacturer JTS. More than 1,000 custom tailored goosenecks were sold for the project through local distributor Elektrosonik.

The distributor initially became involved with the project following a detailed tender document from the Parliament. JTS was chosen following a competitive selection process involving a number of other brands.

‘It took several weeks to make a prototype to meet the specifications they required,’ recalled Elektrosonik’s Dogan C Arsiray. ‘The prototypes were installed in parliament building’s main hall to see if the microphones would meet the requirements.’

According to Mr Arsiray, the biggest challenge with the project was overcoming a resistance to change away from the brand that was already in place. ‘They were skeptical against an Eastern originated product,’ he explained. ‘The customer was not sure if JTS could meet the specifications, but they were simply underestimating the power of JTS’ R&D department.’

Following the approval, manufacturing the products took one month. These were then installed at the Parliament building in Ankara to replace the old system. According to Mr Arsiray, the Parliament is ‘happy with results’ and its technical department has been operating the new system with full success.
