Ugandan health initiative calls on EV

UGANDA: Visual Engineering Service of Kampala has supplied Electro-Voice sound systems to 15 rural districts in Uganda. The systems are part of the Ugandan Ministry of Health’s new public health campaign on sexually transmitted diseases.

Each system consists of two Electro-Voice ZLX-12P loudspeakers and two Electro-Voice ELX118P subs driven by a Dynacord PM 600-3 powered mixer. Input is provided in each case by an Electro-Voice R300 wireless microphone system.

The systems will be used as part of the Ugandan Ministry of Health’s nationwide health awareness initiative tackling sexually transmitted diseases. It takes the form of meetings held in venues ranging from village squares to auditoriums.

‘The specifications from the Ministry were very clear,’ recalled Sedu Muwanga, director of VES in Uganda. ‘Each district needed an individual multifunctional mobile sound system that was very easy to set up, install and maintain. Furthermore it needed to have compact dimensions and provide high speech intelligibility and power.’

Depending on the location of the event, the systems would be located either on the back of a truck or taken off and placed in the middle of a football field or inside an auditorium. ‘It was therefore clear that we needed something really robust too,’ noted Mr Muwanga.

‘The ZLX is great for the African market! It delivers great clarity and precision and offers great value for money. Important for us was also the fact that the ZLX is very robust, easy to set-up and carry around thanks to its four handles. In combination with the subs, mixer and microphones, we also have a system that is easy to operate and maintain,’ said the VES director. ‘The project was finalised at the beginning of January and all systems are running smoothly. In fact, the systems are doing such a good job, that we have just been commissioned to provide two further solutions.’
