Wild and Marr to upgrade Ster-Kinekor sound

SOUTH AFRICA: Wild and Marr has recently been selected as the primary provider for the audio upgrade for the Ster-Kinekor cinema chain. Over the next 12 months, Ster-Kinekor will replace all 400 of its screens, and in line with this upgrade, certain theatres will be installed with new speakers and amplifier systems.

The Primedia-owned company has signed an agreement with Arts Alliance Media to install new technology into its sites. ‘Moving to digital will allow the company to screen more 3D content,’ said Fiaz Mahomed, Ster-Kinekor CEO. ‘It should also provide a superior picture quality.’

The upgrade will see Wild and Marr install a combination of JBL’s 3730 three-way bi-amplified/passive ScreenArray Cinema loudspeaker systems, 3722 two-way models, 4641 single 460mm, and 4642 dual 460mm subwoofers into selected theatres. A number of JBL’s 8320 cinema surround speakers for digital applications will also be installed, as will amplifiers from Crown’s XLS and XTi ranges.

‘Wild and Marr is delighted to supply leading industry technology that will not only elevate the experience of South African movie-goers, but also provide optimum audio configuration for 3D content,’ commented a Wild and Marr spokesperson.
