Xirium performs flawlessly for QND

QATAR: Five separate locations were interlinked with audio using Neutrik’s Xirium system for the recent Qatar National Day celebrations. Creative Communications Group (CCG), the company responsible for the event’s audio distribution, purchased the wireless system from local distributor Nicolas Kyvernitis Electronics Enterprises (NMK) to ease the set up at areas where cable crossings were difficult and extended more than 100m.
‘As the area was heavily crowded, a normal signal cable could easily be damaged and even with cable protectors it could still be tampered with,’ commented Rikus de Kock, technical director at CCG. ‘Xirium was placed in the main structures and was secure from any public interference. The system saved us on a lot of long cable runs that saved a lot of time.’
The Xirium purchase included four transmitters and 20 receivers. The system was used in repeater mode with engineers watching signal strength in various areas on the system’s software.
‘In spite of challenging audio requirements for this event, the Xirium system – with its unique features including a range of 500m line-of-sight and signal strength software, as well as broadcast and repeater modes, successfully matched the request,’ commented Pavel Aheunin, Neutrik product manager at NMK. ‘The use of four transmitters and 20 receivers simultaneously was one of the biggest Xirium setups in the region so far. Working on the 5.2GHz frequency band and using DIWA protocol, Xirium cannot be interrupted by any other system and it has successfully proven its reliability at Qatar National Day, where military wireless signal jammers are used. We were extremely glad to hear a positive feedback from the client.’
‘The event involved the military in full force and security at a maximum with signal jammers, but Xirium has performed with no dropout,’ Mr Rikus added. ‘I would recommend the system as a very easy solution to overcome signal loss on long distances and crossing difficult areas with ease.’
