Zio installs screens and sound for Dubai Mall Metro Link

UAE: Zio Technologies has completed work on the installation of the video screens on the new Dubai Mall Metro Link.
The screens are supported by outdoor powered speakers from Pan Acoustics.
The 900m long travelator project was developed by Emaar Properties and is an air conditioned link for travellers between the Dubai Metro and the Dubai Mall.
The pedestrian walkway connects to the Mall at the Boulevard, an area which sees very high traffic movement. On either side of the Metro link at this unique location, Zio in cooperation with AAVISS has installed a pair of 20m wide by 7m high Barco screens. The systems integrator describes the new screens as ‘the most advanced products in the industry which work without air conditioning’.
The screens are supported by Pan Acoustics outdoor powered speakers which enable the setup to be used to play audio sources along with video. Eight Pan Acoustics Pan Beam PB248 speakers have been installed with two per side on each screen. According to the manufacturer, the selection of the product was due to its ‘flexibility in installation and the intuitive software offering four beam technology, of which three beams were used for intelligible sound distribution over a 100m from the screens’.
All the signals are transmitted to the screens and speakers over a fibre optic network from the control room. The screen has an intelligent sensor to adjust the brightness according to the ambient light allowing energy savings. Further to this, the system has been built to include remote management software which will alert users about any problem with any of the modules.
All parties involved are reportedly very happy about the achieved clean and musical fidelity of this very prestigious project. Zio believes ‘the screen has become an attraction for the Boulevard and will help in adding many such screens across Dubai’.
