Active Integration added to StudioLive

Redesigned from the ground up to utilise Active Integration, the product of an extensive R&D programme, PreSonus has brought out a successor to the StudioLive series of mixers. Named the StudioLive AI, it includes a new DSP engine, an on-board Firewire s800 interface, Wi-Fi and Ethernet networking, and dual-processing on every channel and bus.

The series consists of three models: the 32-channel StudioLive 32.4.2AI, with 24 dedicated mix busses; 24-channel StudioLive 24.4.2AI, with 20 dedicated mix busses; and 16-channel StudioLive 16.4.2AI, with 16 dedicated mix busses.

With the introduction of Active Integration the mixers can utilise a ‘tightly-integrated hardware/software environment’ in which every touch point control in the system communicates with each other. This enables them to use twice as many internal effects busses as first generation StudioLive mixers, the ability to create to two full sets of parametric EQ, dynamics settings for each channel, and remote control – via Wi-Fi or Ethernet – over nearly every feature. The built-in Firewire s800 interface is contained on an upgradeable card, swappable for Dante, AVB, or Thunderbolt compatibility.

Included with the consoles is the manufacturer’s AI Software Library consisting of Capture 2.1 multi-track recording software, Studio One Artist 2.6 DAW, and StudioLive-AI editor/control software. Remote control software for iOS-enabled devices is available from the Apple App Store.

In addition to the new console series, PreSonus has introduced a new Music Creation Suite Recording Kit. Similar to the AudioBox stereo recording kit, the kit comprises a 24-bit 44.1/48kHz 2-channel AudioBox audio interface, the manufacturer’s Studio One recording and production software, Notion notation software, PS-49 Midi keyboard, M7 studio condenser microphone, HD-3 monitoring headphones, and a USB2.0 hub.

The kit, with everything needed for a basic recording setup included, has been designed for educators, students and home studio enthusiasts. PreSonus plan to offer lesson plans and instructional videos to help educators get the best from the package.
