AKG targets the studio with K612PRO and K712PRO

Leading the influx of new releases from AKG is the introduction of the K612PRO reference class and K712PRO reference studio headphones.
Beginning with the K612PRO, this is an open-back, circumaural dynamic headphone sporting a self-adjusting glove-leather headband with aluminium arches and solid rivets.
Meanwhile, the K712PRO is the brand’s new reference headphone, as the K702 aligns itself in the middle of the two new headphones. Its open-back design, 3dB improved low-end performance, flat wire voice coil and a detachable professional cable work together to provide mastering and mixing professionals with ‘hours of fatigue-free’ use. The K712PRO employs a soft leather headband for a lightweight and comfortable fit, and pre-selected transducers provide consistency and accurate localisation.
The Vienna-manufactured headphones employ two-layer diaphragm patented Varimotion technology.
Meanwhile, the manufacturer has introduced the DMM12 BC digital automatic microphone mixing unit, which it insists will be a substantial addition to any broadcast or backroom installed sound rig.
The 12-input mixer’s algorithm offers a high signal-to-noise ratio to minimise the number of open microphones in a mix and offers the ability to create a different mix per each output. The DMM12 BC unit is scalable up to 10 units, and each unit’s inputs are individually routable to numerous outputs – two stereo line outs, one stereo record output and an AES-EBU output.
Managing level, bass, low cut, limiter, compressor, auto-mixing, priority, pan/balance, routing to receiver, routing to output one and two and delay adjustments can be made quickly using the intuitive interface.
When in use, all inputs are active, but attenuated to a level that equals the level of one ‘active microphone’. Working to deter noise pickup, the DMM series senses numerous sonic activities to monitor and diminish unwanted sound.
Lastly, AKG has recently introduced the C111LP earhook microphone, which has been optimised for on-stage performers and corporate speakers for venues of all sizes.
Claiming to be ‘nearly indestructible’, the C111LP is constructed out of stainless steel. However, the strong frame is pliable and can be adjusted to fit the head of any performer. The small skin-coloured boom visually disappears against the face, while its 7g weight reportedly provides a comfortable fit.
The C111LP connects to all AKG pocket transmitters via three-pin mini XLR for integration into any rig. Its frequency response ranges from 60-15,000Hz, with an omni-directional polar pattern. C111LP includes a windscreen, cable clip and carrying pouch within its packaging.
