Amadeus releases its most compact speakers
Published: PRODUCTS

Described as the most compact in its line, Amadeus has released the PMX4, a miniature 4-inch coaxial loudspeaker. The French manufacturer has also announced a new subwoofer in the form of the ML 8.
The PMX 4 has been designed for sound professionals wishing to combine high sonic fidelity with an ultra-compact format for space-limited installation or live use. This release of the speaker completes the PMX Series, which includes the 15-, 12-, 10-, 8- and 5-inch models, and is available in passive, self-powered and EtherSound-enabled versions.
Available in several different standard colours, the speaker can also be ordered in a ‘made-to-measure’ finish using materials such as Wenge, Wacapou, Wamara, Ebony, as well as more traditional timbers such as White Sycamore and Oak.
The release of the speaker comes off the back of convergent requests from composers, designers and scenographers, who were looking for a highly accurate, transparent, neutral sounding speaker in a miniature format. Amadeus feels its latest offering provides just that.
Continuing with the theme of scaling down, the company has also released the ML 8, the smallest speaker in the ML Series. The cabinet is an 8-inch subwoofer designed for space-limited installation or live use. The subwoofer has been designed to pair with the PMX 4.
The cabinet has been built around a proprietary internal reinforcement structure designed to neutralise any standing waves and suppress energy loss. According to the manufacturer, this creates a dramatic cut in the level of cabinet colouration, by using interlocking panels arranged in two perpendicular planes.
The subwoofer draws 600W peak power (8-ohm) and produces 118dB peak SPL, and like the PMX 4, the ML 8 is available with the comprehensive selection of finishes
