Apart promises new level of performance with Mask12

The Mask12 has become the latest addition to Apart Audio’s Mask series of loudspeakers for installation, adding a 12-inch option to the range. The two-way, 8-ohm model is also available in 100/70V configurations in the shape of the Mask12T.
Meant for use indoors within a broad range of applications where a medium to high sound pressure level is required, the Mask12 is described by Apart as capable of delivering both background and foreground music. It is rated at 350W (AES) and 700W (programme), with a peak SPL of 127dB and a frequency response of 48Hz to 22kHz (the Mask12T is reported to deliver a maximum SPL of 122dB). The plywood enclosure’s design is intended to aid horizontal or vertical installation close to a ceiling or wall. When mounted vertically it has a nominal dispersion of 90-degrees x 70-degrees, and it features a rotatable horn.
A specially-designed U-bracket named the Mask12BRA is also available to aid installation, as is a pole-mount system for the Mask12T versions named the Mask12PBRA.
In other Apart news, the manufacturer has introduced the ALINP, a local input wall control panel for a music source and/or microphone, offering individual volume controls for both. The panel includes a built-in microphone preamplifier and an input transformer to avoid ground loops, and can function with either a 24V or 48V phantom power supply. It fits into most standard in-wall boxes and requires two 3mm screws to be fixed in place.
