APG Uniline bolstered by 18-inch sub

Described as the ‘big brother’ of the existing UL115B, the 18-inch UL118B has become the second dedicated subwoofer to join APG’s Uniline modular line array. The new larger sub is expected to broaden the appeal of the French manufacturer’s system, taking it into a larger range of applications including arenas, stadia, and outdoor festivals.

Primarily intended for use in conjunction with the UL115B as an infra-bass extension for large systems, the UL118B can also be used as a primary subwoofer for medium-sized applications requiring more low-end extension. It was reportedly developed in response to requests from the television market requiring an 18-inch solution that could be flown to protect sight-lines.

The sub comprises a single convection cooled neodymium transducer mounted in a double-chamber band-pass enclosure, with an integrated four point rigging system for suspension. It can also be ground-stacked using the same rigging accessories as the rest of the Uniline range. Cardioid and arc configurations are also possible thanks to the Speakon connector on the front.

In more Uniline news, APG has expanded the range of available accessories in the shape of the UlRail lightweight flying rail for single arrays of UL210 and/or UL210D, and the UlStack lightweight stacking accessory. Both are intended to facilitate the deployment of small systems, either in fixed installations or for the rental market.

Two standard racks have also been announced. The 4-in/4-out UniRack comprises a DMS48 digital system processor and two SA30:2 amplifiers plus a full-featured connection panel. The 4-in/8-out TourRack, meanwhile, has been specifically developed for touring applications and includes a DMS48 processor and four SA30:2 amplifiers complete with the manufacturer’s CP1UM-IN and CP1UM-OUT modular connection plates. Both racks can be controlled via APG’s PWAPG software.
