Are you in or out?

Apia’s Ciwi series and Cimi series of passive loudspeakers have been designed for indoor and outdoor installation respectively. The indoor Ciwi series features Baltic birch cabinets and a polyurethane paint. The Cimi outdoor options meanwhile are extruded aluminium cabinets engineered for environments with high or low temperature extremes, exposure to the sun, humidity and salt air.
Starting indoors, there are three members of the Ciwi series – Ciwi, Ciwi Line6 and Ciwi Line12. Ciwi is a two-way passive loudspeaker with a 5-inch neodymium driver and a dispersion angle of 90-degrees. The cubic cabinet offers a frequency response of 100Hz to 19kHz and a maximum SPL of 119dB.
Changing shape from a cube to a column, Ciwi Line6 features six 3-inch neodymium transducers giving it a frequency range of 125Hz to 19kHz and a maximum SPL of 128dB. It has two vertical coverage dispersion patterns – wide offers 30-degrees while narrow is 10-degrees. The rigging and linking accessories allow for multiple speakers to be connected and with the impedance set to 24-ohms, 16 can be powered via a single amplifier channel.
Ciwi Line12 features the same frequency range and similar 7-degrees or 30-degrees dispersion angle options as the Line6, but with 12 3-inch neodymium transducers producing 132dB. Again, the column speakers can be linked to form larger systems. Line12’s selectable impedance is 4-ohms or 16-ohms, and when in 16-ohms mode, up to eight can be powered via a single amplifier channel. As with all members of the Ciwi series, Line12 is available in custom RAL colours.
Stepping outdoors, the Cimi series again has three members. Cimi has almost identical vital statistics to Ciwi. It has the same frequency range, dispersion and maximum SPL with the major difference coming in the physical dimensions. While Ciwi is a 3.2kg, 160mm cube, Cimi is slightly lighter and curved to the rear with dimensions of 141mm x 137mm x 150mm.
As would be expected, the Cimi Line8 is an outdoor column speaker. This aluminium cabinet features eight 2-inch neodymium transducers for a frequency range of 150Hz to 19kHz and a maximum SPL of 124dB. Like the Line12, Line8 offers 7-degrees or 30-degrees vertical dispersion angle options. Its selectable impedance is 16-ohms or 64-ohms and when in 64-ohms mode, up to 32 can be powered via a single amplifier channel.
Going up in length, Cimi Line16 has the same frequency range and dispersion angles as the Line8 from its 16 2-inch neodymium transducers and a maximum SPL of 130dB. The selectable impedance for this cabinet is 8-ohms or 32-ohms and up to 16 of the speakers can be powered by a single amplifier channel in 32-ohms mode. Again, the whole Cimi range is available in custom RAL colours.
There are two options to provide low end support to cabinets from either series. C-sub is a powered 12-inch subwoofer with a frequency range of 40Hz to 125Hz and a maximum SPL of 128dB. The sub features an internal DSP, and when combined with any Cimi or Ciwi cabinet it works to power and process an integrated audio system.
Providing lower frequencies is the C-Infra. This 21-inch powered sub offers 25Hz to 125Hz and a maximum SPL of 128dB. Again, the cabinet features internal DSP and like the C-Sub offers software control for gain, mute, delay and preset recall. In terms of creating a larger system, each C-Sub or C-Infra can power four Ciwi or Cimi, eight Line6, four Line12, 16 Line8 or eight Line16.
