Astoria PCI

Audinate revealed the Astoria IP based Dante audio networking PCI Express sound card at InfoComm 2010, promising 256 channels of uncompressed, digital audio with low latency.

Astoria is being seen by the manufacturer as a cost effective solution for OEMs seeking to create high performance recording and audio processing products. The card offers support for all popular sample rates and is designed to free a computer’s resources for native DSP and plug-ins. The Dante PCIe card can support configurations for 128 x 128 bi-directional channels at either 48kHz or 96kHz or 64 x 64 bi-directional channels at 192 kHz sampling. Working over a standard Gigabit network and AVB ready, the soundcard is both Mac and PC compliant, presenting a standard Core Audio or ASIO interface for consumer and professional audio applications.

Additionally, the US developer has announced the availability of the DM-1 Dante audio network card for the EV NetMax series of products. The DM-1 can be installed in the N8000 or N8000-1500 chassis to provide high resolution, low latency audio transmission over IP networks. The self-configuring, plug-and-play card uses standard IP over both 100Mbits and 1Gb ethernet.
