Audac releases white weather-proof speaker

Responding to customer demand, Audac has announced the release of its white WX502/0W two-way outdoor loudspeaker.

Based on the manufacturer’s black WX502/0, the new ‘compact’ cabinet is a ‘weather-proofed’ five-inch low frequency loudspeaker, which incorporates a one-inch dome tweeter.

As the WX502/0W is specifically designed for outdoor use, ‘weather-proof’ features include a rotatable waterproof connector on the rear side, and the incorporation of a drain hole behind the aluminium grill to let any water flow out. Additionally, Audac claim that a special treatment with powder coating provides the necessary protection against all weather conditions. Due to this, the manufacturer reports that the brackets can pass the 96 hours salt-spray test. Meanwhile, a rotatable five pole waterproof connector with power tap selection ensures that the speaker meets the IP55 standard.

The manufacturer reports that the speaker is capable of delivering a power of 50w. It can be used in standard eight-ohm systems, but is equally suited for use in 100v PA systems. This is due to the incorporation of power taps for 40w, 20w and 10w.

The included mounting bracket allows for horizontal and vertical mounting as well as focusing of the speaker, and an integrated advanced protection network works to protect the tweeter against overload.
