Barix goes green with low cost Instreamer
Published: PRODUCTS
Marking Barix’s first Instreamer hardware device launch in five years, the manufacturer’s newest model is said to deliver various audio improvements at a lower cost in a more energy-efficient package. In fact, the cost is reported to be 15 per cent less when compared to the manufacturer’s Instreamer 100, whilst the unit reduces operational costs by utilising a ‘mini-USB’ switch-mode power supply.
The compact device is suitable for a range of applications, including live encoding for internet radio and broadcast signal confidence monitoring, audio injection into IP phone and paging systems for on-hold and background music, scientific and technical audio applications, classroom and lecture recording in universities and corporate situations, and for low-latency video wall encoding applications.
Where the new Instreamer differs from the 100 model is that it enhances audio performance through a new digital signage processor that works to deliver signal-to-noise ratio improvements. It is also the first of the manufacturer’s Instreamer releases to support constant bit-rate monitoring, which improves MP3 streaming quality and buffering times on Windows Media and other server-based media players.
The Instreamer also offers network alarms via SNMP traps to generate notifications for audio loss, ensuring that quality issues are immediately pinpointed.
