Spanish transducer specialist, Beyma, is aiming its new, three member MC500 range of ferrite magnet woofers at low-end line array and active loudspeaker applications, incorporating its proprietary Maltcross cooling technology to reportedly deliver up to 1,000W programme power.
The three models comprise the 10-inch 10MC500, 12-inch 12MC500 and 15-inch 15MC500. All three boast 2.5-inch voice coils with ceramic magnets while the Maltcross system is also said to reduce losses due to the power compression effect.
Also new is the TPL-200, with X-Bow technology – described by the manufacturer as a method for increasing the total SPL of its pleated diaphragm tweeters. X-Bow’s inclusion reportedly delivers increased sensitivity and greater power within the three available TPL-200 models.
Two of the TPL-200 models are being launched with anodised aluminium front plates (in either black or metal finishes, named the TPL-200B and TPL-200S respectively), for wider horizontal coverage. A third version, named the TPL-200H, is equipped with a constant directivity horn.
Elsewhere, Beyma has announced two new subwoofers, including the 18-inch 18P1000FeV2, which is an updated version of its previous 18P1000Fe. The new version boasts improved power handling (increased to 1,200W AES), a redesigned magnetic assembly and convection circuit for enhanced efficiency and low air noise.
Alternatively, the 18-inch 18PWB1000Fe has been designed for applications requiring more low-end. It comprises a 4-inch voice coil design with a ferrite magnet and can reportedly handle up to 2,000W programme with long excursion capabilities (12.5mm Xmax and 55mm peak to peak for mechanical displacement).
Finally, the manufacturer’s coaxial family has grown with the addition of the 10-inch 10CX300Fe, which is intended for full-range applications. Offering a useable range of 50Hz to 20kHz, the ferrite design is equipped with a PM4 diaphragm and is described by Beyma as ‘an excellent choice for high performance bass reflex cabinets’.
