Bosch gets remote with Plena matrix digital sound system

Bosch’s Plena matrix digital sound system boasts an intuitive graphical user interface, a DSP processor, two types of four-channel Class-D amplifiers, a call station and a wall panel. The new solution can be applied to live music, business music, highly demanding speech environments and zone announcement applications, and is particularly suitable for gyms, small hotels, restaurants, bars, business centres, retail stores and schools.

Up to eight zones can be addressed with different announcements, music or live speech, and can be controlled wirelessly via an iPad, iPod or iPhone. The main benefits include a single-cable approach to enable efficient and quick system setup. In addition, ‘amp link’ and daisy chaining of call stations and wall panels reduce installation costs.

Regarding sound, input controls include multi-band equalising, gain control and dynamic range compression on each input. Meanwhile, output control includes multi-band equalising, filtering, dynamic range compression, delay and limiting, plus the ability to mix several inputs for up to eight outputs in real time.

Environmental aspects have also be considered, which can be seen in the included Bosch motion detectors, which enhance amplifiers with a smart auto-standby mode when zones are inactive.

Not stopping there, the manufacturer also recently unveiled the DCN multimedia, a conference system that utilises IP-based Omneo media networking architecture and user-friendly touchscreen conference devices for participants using a version of the Android operating system.

DCN multimedia is specifically aimed at city and regional councils, as well as for government and corporate boardrooms, and offers a combination of audio, video, meeting content and touch-screen technology in elegantly and ergonomically designed conference device. A high-resolution, capacitive touch-screen provides a user with the information they need at their fingertips, and voices sound natural due to the high-directive technology employed in the unobtrusive microphone and the built-in, two-way loudspeaker system.

Advanced audio settings allow for optimised room equalisation, while integrated intelligent acoustic feedback suppression supports higher volumes with maximum speech intelligibility. All audio and control data flowing through the system is securely encrypted in accordance with internationally recognised standards.

Completing the trio of launches is the announcement that Bosch Security Systems is extending its conference portfolio with DCN webcasting software, a complete solution for streaming both live and archived meetings to audiences anywhere in the world. DCN webcasting is specifically aimed at governmental organisations, such as city and regional councils, as well as for the corporate market, including stakeholder meetings.

From every location where internet access is available, this software application allows people to follow an event using a standard web browser on their computer, tablet or smartphone. Viewers are able to see and hear the live or archived meeting, as well as access related data, such as agenda points, speakers’ names, voting results, and even documents that are presented during the meeting.

Furthermore, if desired, the system operator can even involve them in the meeting with real-time surveys and opinion polling. For extra convenience, the social media integration feature means that with one click viewers can share any relevant or important information with their network.

The DCN webcasting solution offers full HD support for video images, and makes use of local buffering so no meeting data is lost, even if the internet connection is down. As an added option, meetings can be password protected ensuring only authorised viewers can watch.
