Bose expands RoomMatch series

Three new RoomMatch Utility loudspeakers have joined the RMU208 that was introduced by Bose last year. The new models – RMU206, RMU108 and RMU105 – feature the same EMB2 HF compression drivers as the full-range RoomMatch modules and can either complement a full-range array to provide additional fills or be deployed on their own.

According to the manufacturer, the EMB2 HF drivers found in the RoomMatch modules don’t suffer from the harmonic distortion and vocal clarity that small dome tweeters found in conventional zone-fill speakers often suffer from. The EMB2 features a 2-inch titanium diaphragm with patented phase plug to reduce distortion.

Optimised for under-balcony fills, RMU206 features two 6-inch woofers in an angle baffled enclosure design to minimise height and allow installation into low-ceilings. The HF driver is mated to a 120-degrees by 60-degrees wide coverage waveguide that can be rotated to increased coverage flexibility.   

The RMU108 is similar to the RMU208 released last year but features just one 8-inch woofer. The rotatable HF waveguide provides 90-degrees by 60-degrees coverage. The RMU108 features additional inserts on the speaker base to facilitate stand adapters and wall brackets.

The last speaker to join the platform is the RMU105, the smallest in the line. The speaker is intended to be used for high-quality BGM and zone-fill applications that require high-output, aesthetics and minimal size and, according to the manufacturer, is one of the smallest loudspeakers to use a HF compression driver rather than a dome tweeter. The unit features a single 5-inch woofer providing ‘vocal-range’ output. The HF waveguide provides 100-degrees by 100-degrees coverage and the speaker can be mounted horizontally or vertically.

The manufacturer has also released a new web application allowing designers to ‘quickly and easily’ draft and configure a system design for hospitality environments. Designs can include up to two zones and comprise surface or flush mount speakers, amplifiers, processors and accessories.
