Double 10-inch line array uncovers FBT’s Muse
Published: PRODUCTS

FBT has unveiled the double 10-inch Muse line array, leading a number of launches including the X series of powered enclosures and Modus.
Muse comprises two 10-inch woofers with 2-inch voice coils, plus two custom B&C HF drivers with 1-inch throats. The 90-degree waveguide has been designed to present an optimum load at 800Hz, delivering a horizontal acoustic wave up to 18kHz. Power is courtesy of a 600W + 300Wrms Class-D module, while onboard DSP offers a choice of eight presets.
The cabinet is constructed from 15mm Birch plywood and incorporates two die-cast aluminium handles and integrated hardware. Up to 16 enclosures can be flown in a single array, with each cabinet splayed up to 10-degree in 2-degree increments. Low-end extension is via the SUBLine 218SA, with two 18-inch B&C woofers and a 1,200W Class-D amplifier. Alternately, Muse can be matched to the 2,000W Mitus 218SA.
Also new is the 2014 edition of Modus, a constant curvature system comprising two modules – the Modus 4805LA (5-degrees vertical), and Modus 4820LA (20-degrees vertical). Both are equipped with four 8-inch neodymium woofers and four 1-inch (1.75-inch voice coil) neodymium HF drivers. Both versions offer onboard 600W + 300W Class-D amplification, a frequency response of 58Hz to 20Khz, onboard DSP with eight presets, and birch plywood enclosures with handles and flying hardware.
Two subwoofers are available for low-end extension. The double 15-inch Modus 215FSA has been designed to support two or three modules, while the single 18-inch Modus 118FSA supports one or two, and is physically similar to a 4805. For larger applications, both subs can be used together.
Finally, FBT has introduced the X-Lite, X-Pro and X-Sub series.
All three polypropylene cabs within the X-Lite series include three handles and four M10 flying points, onboard 1,000W Class-D amplifier modules, DSP with four presets and 1-inch HF sections with 1.4-inch voice coils. The 126dB X-Lite 10A includes a 10-inch woofer (2-inch voice coil), a frequency response of 58Hz to 20kHz, 90-degree x 60-degree coverage and a 30-degree monitor taper. The X-Lite 12A delivers 127dB with a 12-inch woofer (2-inch voice coil), a frequency response of 50Hz to 20kHz and 90-degree x 60-degree coverage plus a 30-degree or 45-degree monitor taper. The largest of the three is the X-Lite 15A, with a 15-inch woofer (2.5-inch voice coil), a 42Hz to 20kHz frequency response, 90-degree x 60-degree coverage and a 30-degree or 45-degree taper.
Appealing to professional users, the X-Pro series comprises three models constructed from plywood and finished with extra-texture paint. Common features include rotatable constant directivity horns, ergonomic handles, M10 flying points, monitor tapers, onboard 1,000W two-way amplification (Class-D for LF and Class-A/B for HF), DSP with four presets, and an integrated mixer. All three contain 1-inch HF sections with 1.4-inch voice coils.
The models begin with the 10-inch, 126dB X-Pro 10a, with a frequency response of 58Hz to 20kHz, 80-degree x 50-degree coverage and a 35-degree taper. The 12-inch, 127dB X-Pro 12a offers 50Hz to 20kHz, 80-degrees x 50-degrees, and a 35-degree or 45-degree taper. The larger X-Pro 15a delivers 128dB with a 15-inch woofer, a 42Hz to 20kHz repsonse, 80-degree x 50-degree coverage and a 35-degree or 45-degree taper. Low-end is via the 18-inch X-Sub 18SA, delivering 38Hz to 120Hz, 1,200W Class-D, DSP with six presets and plywood construction.
