d&b audiotechnik has developed the E12X-Sub, which is now the smallest subwoofer in the German manufacturers’ product range. It is fitted with a 12-inch excursion neodymium driver, which can be used in active mode with a dedicated d&b amplifier, or with an internal passive crossover to allow connection in parallel with an E8 loudspeaker driven by an appropriately configured single d&b amplifier channel. The E12X-Sub replaces the current E12-Sub and provides low frequency extension in smaller systems using the E0 and E3 loudspeakers. Weighing 18kg and measuring 358mm x 530mm x 448mm, the E12X-Sub is capable of producing 124dB SPL and 127dB SPL when driven by the D6 and D12 amplifiers respectively.
The M6 is a low-profile, two-way stage monitor with12-inch woofer and 1.3-inch exit coaxial driver with a CD horn and passive crossover network. Offering 50° x 80° coverage, the M6 delivers 132dB SPL when powered by the D16 amplifier rising to 135dB when powered by the D12 in passive mode. It can also be operated in a two-way active mode by changing the D12’s configuration without any modifications to the loudspeaker, thus achieving an SPL of 138dB. Measuring 486mm x 455mm x 332mm, the 16kg enclosure has handles, M10 threaded inserts and a hidden socket to accept a loudspeaker stand. Used in an upright position the M6 can also operate as a PA loudspeaker.
The B4-Sub enclosure houses two long excursion neodymium drivers: a 15-inch driver in bass reflex design facing to the front and a 12-inch driver in a two-chamber band-pass configuration radiating to the rear. The design reduces sound levels behind the cabinet by more than 15dB over its operating bandwidth, and provides accuracy in low-frequency reproduction from 40Hz to 150/100Hz. Each channel of a D6 or D12 amplifier drives up to two loudspeakers with the B4-Sub configuration selected. The B4-Sub is designed for ground stack use only; an M20 threaded flange in the top panel accepts a loudspeaker stand, while two runners extend from front to rear of the bottom panel to aid stacking. Weighing 44kg, producing 128dB SPL and 131dB SPL when driven with the D6 and D12 respectively, the cabinet has a pair of handles, four wheels on the rear and an optional transport lid in an enclosure measuring 476mm x 580mm x 800mm.
The v1.8 R1 Remote control software allows system design and prediction with d&b ArrayCalc, and the final system configuration to applied offline or on-site within R1 and then manipulated remotely. DSP control can be applied down to an individual d&b amplifier channel, groups of loudspeakers or the complete system.
