Ersa Major

Ohm’s Ersa Major is a new integrated line array system intended for large-scale concerts, festivals and sports events.
The system is run in four-way active mode with the amplifiers flown in the array, while the matching dual 18-inch PUKK sub-bass units can be flown or ground stacked. The mid/high cabinet has dual Ohm 10-inch midrange woofers with a coaxial compression driver mounted on a proprietary waveguide, while the midrange drivers use a compact, fully horn-loaded cabinet. The cabinet is three-way active with an impedance of 16Ω allowing the use of four boxes to one three-way amplifier.
The PUKK is a slot-loaded dual 18-inch reflex subwoofer with long excursion drivers mounted in a push-pull configuration. A 2kW class-D amplifier is mounted in each cabinet, with an integral DSP controller interfacing via an Ethernet connection. Flown in the array is a housing that can accommodate up to four class-D amplifiers. Each amplifier has three channels and can power four Ersa Major mid/high active cabinets. The amplifiers – which communicate via Ethernet to a PC or Mac laptop – have built-in DSP control, accepting both analogue and digital signals. The flying system enables up to 16 mid/high cabinets to be flown with the amplifiers.
Meanwhile, a common DSP platform is under development for all future Ohm speaker management, with the intention of making all DSP solutions freely groupable and configurable, and therefore controllable as one cohesive unit. Oyster is the first model in this new range and is intended mainly for fixed installation and mobile use as the control is only accessible via PC or Mac. The two-input, six-output unit has a front panel mounted USB port, power, signal and peak LEDs, and XLR connectors at the rear.
Finally, activate is a portable PA system with double 12-inch subs and 8-inch/1-inch compression driver tops. The top box can be used as a standalone full-range speaker or as a high-power mid/high pack with a dedicated Activate subwoofer, which is a slot-loaded reflex cabinet with the two speakers working in push-pull mode.
The subwoofer has an 800W amplifier and high-pass filter, and the top box has 250W low-frequency and 100W HF amplifiers as well as EQ, limiting and time aligning in both amplifiers. A gain control and a comprehensive array of connectors allow for the easy daisy-chaining of the enclosures, while switch mode power supply amplifiers and Neodymium magnet motors make a lightweight compact enclosure.
