FBT’s Jolly range replaced with J Series while Qube expands

Aimed at budget conscious applications, the J Series of enclosures has been launched by Italian loudspeaker specialist FBT, replacing its formerly acclaimed Jolly range. The Recanati–based manufacturer has also debuted the Qube QSA 112.0A active constant curvature line array speaker.

Six two-way active enclosures and four two-way passive models are included within the J Series, and all are described by the company as ‘offering FBT’s high-quality performance and durability at real value for money prices’.

The DJ 15A and J 15A are both two-way biamp systems with 350W RMS (LF) and 100W RMS (HF), 15-inch LF drivers, onboard DSP with four pre-sets, dynamic EQ and SPL protection, a two-channel input mixer and the ability to daisy-chain additional speakers together if required. The J 12A offers 250W RMS (LF) and 50W RMS (HF) plus a 12-inch LF driver. All three models boast Class-D amplifiers and switch-mode power supplies.

The J 8A reportedly delivers 200W RMS (LF) and 50W RMS (HF) and includes two presets (it is also available in white, named the J 8AW), while the J 5A and J 5T are rated at 80W RMS (LF) and 40W RMS (HF). All three models employ Class-D amplifiers with low-noise toroidal transformer power supplies. Passive Models of each size are also available using the same driver configurations.

The range is intended to appeal to a variety of applications from portable DJs and bands to permanent installation and sound reinforcement. All of the models also include new amplification and DSP circuits, while the cabinets are constructed out of polypropylene with integrated handles (except the J 5A/5/5T).

Other physical elements across the range include two M10 anchoring points on the J 15A, J 15, DJ 15, J 12A and J 12, and two M6 suspension points on the J 8A, J 8, J 5A, J 5 and J 5T. Additional mounting accessories are also available.

Meanwhile the QSA 112.0A active constant curvature line array speaker is the latest addition to FBT’s Qube line array range. Designed for bigger line array systems, the enclosure is described as ‘ideal for J-array configurations’.

Compact and two-way, the model boasts a B&C 12-inch high excursion LF driver and three 1-inch exit (1.7-inch voice coil) HF drivers, all with neodymium magnets and coupled to three waveguides to provide 100-degree horizontal and 5-degree vertical dispersion. Also onboard is a 1,100W Class-D amplifier for low frequencies and a 300W Class-G amp for high frequencies. For set up, easily accessible dipswitches with factory EQ presets have also been included plus a second set of dipswitches to provide eight different delay settings.

Additional features include gain adjustment from -9dB to +3dB, four LEDs to indicate operation status, a ground-lift switch, a balanced XLR-F input, a balanced XLR-M Loop output, an auto-resetting AC line circuit breaker, and two Neutrik Powercon AC connectors. Constructed from ¾-inch Baltic birch plywood, each QSA cabinet is finished in scratch and scuff resistant paint and features ergonomically placed handles and mechanical hardware conforming to 10:1 safety factors.
