Flat-panel PA solutions from Studiomaster

Studiomaster is launching its Acoustic Image6 (passive) and Acoustic Image6A (active) large-format NXT driven flat panel PA systems. The panels are described by the Soundking-owned brand as ‘technologically advanced’ PA solutions suitable for applications where the prime requirement is for even audience coverage in terms of both spectral balance and loudness.

The brand states that the Acoustic Image6 and 6A both offer performance advantages over conventional speaker cabinets in portable PA, A/V installation, commercial audio and architectural applications. This is said to be due to the inclusion of six 25mm mathematically positioned exciters that generate bending waves across the entire surface of a stiff panel membrane, which is rated at 200w (into 8ohms). Meanwhile, the Image6A’s panel is driven by a 200w class D amplifier.

The movement of the panel creates a diffuse soundfield that is virtually omnidirectional across its frequency range, reportedly resulting in a clear and identically balanced signal, regardless of listening angle. The panels can be wall mounted, or fixed to a 35mm top-hat pole fitting.

Also new from the manufacturer is its Studiomaster XPX series of ultra-portable moulded PA cabinets. Active and passive models are available in 12-inch and 15-inch sizes, respectively.

The passive models are said to complement Studiomaster’s new Horizon powered mixer, whilst the active models are intended to enhance the manufacturer’s VPX active range. Featuring neodymium drivers, 3-inch voice coils, and class D bi-amplification, the active models boast a maximum RMS of 750w.
