Funktion One brings the bass with BR Range

Funktion One’s new BR (Bass Reflex) Range addresses applications requiring deep, strong bass at close range. The manufacturer states that the series’ unique tuning results in relatively compact size, but with more definition than is usually available from this type of enclosure.

This extra definition means the range is also applicable for higher bass frequencies, leading to use in a wide variety of configurations. The range includes the high power BR218 (double 18-inch) and BR221 (double 21-inch) large format enclosures and the BR115 (single 15-inch) and BR118 (single 18-inch) enclosures, which supplement Funktion One’s range of smaller enclosures, such as the F81, F101, F1201 and Resolution 1.

Also new from the manufacturer are the PSM318 DJ Monitors, which deliver a full frequency output, accuracy and immediacy.

The overall design has been optimised to minimise sight line impact, and each PSM318 comprises a new double 18-inch bass reflex enclosure, providing strong near-field sub-bass, with a separate triple concentric enclosure for the rest of the frequency spectrum. The two enclosures join to form the whole, with a quick-latch system to provide angle adjustment for different monitor positions and DJ heights. 

The bass enclosure has integral wheels enabling it to be easily moved into the optimum stage position. The triple concentric arrangement of the mid-high enclosure comprises an 18-inch driver with a coaxially mounted two-way compression driver.

Natural materials used in the midrange section of the compression driver, combined with its 700Hz-9kHz bandwidth, give definition to the vocal range, while the 18-inch driver – with its neodymium magnet and 5-inch voice coil – is optimised for mid-bass definition.
