Galileo discovers a new Galaxy

Meyer Sound has added the Galaxy network platform to its Galileo processor line, promoting it as its most advanced processing power to date. The line comprises three members, the Galaxy 816, Galaxy 816-AES3 and Galaxy 408.

Galaxy is the first loudspeaker processor in the Californian manufacturer’s range to be fully-networkable, with multiple units sharing 24-bit/96kHz multichannel audio via an AVB network. Maximum input count has been increased from six to eight for easier implementation of 7.1 systems, whilst a new generation of FPGA-based processing with 96kHz floating-point resolution delivers increased dynamic range, a lower noise floor and low latency of 0.6ms analogue-in to analogue-out.

Other features new to the processors include a delay matrix, easier integration with Crestron and other third-party controllers, a word clock input on the AES3 version and improved equalisation tools.
