German Physiks unveil DDD driver

German Physiks has introduced its DDD full range loudspeaker driver.

The design uses pistonic, bending wave and modal radiation to cover a range from 70Hz to 24kHz. Originally developed for high-end audio applications, it is also aimed at sound reinforcement where high quality speech and music reproduction is required, such as in galleries, boardrooms, museums and in restaurants and shops.

The manufacturer claims its omnidirectional radiation pattern allows it to replace up to 15 conventional in-ceiling drivers whilst enabling it to provide an even tonal balance in its field of coverage.

The carbon fibre unit weighs 6.3kg and is secured to a ceiling by six bolts that pass through the 220mm diameter mounting plate.
