Grund Audio Design has announced the latest addition to its speaker portfolio, the GQ Series loudspeakers. Encompassing five new models manufactured using MDF enclosures that are internally braced, the GQ Series speakers can be bought in both passive and active designs, and are best suited to performing musicians and DJs as well as event production, corporate A/V, and education.
The series consists of the GQ-10, GQ-12, GQ-15, GQ-153, and GQ-18S. The GQ-10, GQ-12, and GQ-15 are two-way speakers employing a one-inch high frequency compression driver with rotatable horns mated to their respective low frequency transducer. The GQ-153 features a three-way design encompassing a one-inch high frequency compression driver with rotatable horn, an eight–inch mid driver, and a 15-inch low frequency transducer. Lastly, the GQ-18S is a subwoofer featuring an 18-inch low frequency transducer in a bass reflex enclosure.
The GQ-10 and GQ-12 can be used as PA-type enclosures as well as be positioned on the side for use as floor monitors. The GQ-10, GQ-12, and GQ-15 all have pole cups so that they may be mated with the pole cup-equipped GQ-18S subwoofer—effectively creating a full range ‘speaker on a stick’ setup.
For the active GQ Series models, power ranges from 200W-800W. The multichannel inputs found on these allow any two sources to be mixed internally. With their built-in power amplifiers, Grund says the GQ Series active loudspeaker enclosures make a ‘great sounding, versatile PA system that transports easily and simplifies system cabling’.
