JBL covers all angles with CWT128 and more

Promising ‘extremely wide-angle coverage’, Harman Professional brand JBL has announced the CWT128 loudspeaker, incorporating the manufacturer’s Crossfired Waveguide Technology (CWT), which is intended to provide seamless horizontal coverage across a full 160-degrees.
The compact speaker is intended for a broad range of applications including performance spaces, houses of worship, auditoria, transportation hubs, theme parks, sports venues and more. Because of its dispersion characteristics, JBL believes that a single CWT128 can perform the same function as two rival enclosures, thereby lowering installation costs.
CWT technology is designed to ‘split the waveguide in half’, utilising two compression drivers loaded in different directions. According to JBL, because only one CWT128 needs to be deployed, overall fidelity is improved.
Inside the enclosure meanwhile are 2408H-1 1-inch neodymium-magnet compression drivers plus a pair of 8-inch JBL Symmetrical Field Geometry (SFG) low-frequency drivers with copper-clad, aluminium edge-wound 2.5-inch voice coils and copper-clad pole pieces. On the exterior, a multi-ply enclosure offers a range of mounting options plus a DuraFlex finish and powder-coated steel grille. Four M10 points plus four M8 points are included for mounting.
In other JBL news, the manufacturer has introduced the MTC-CBT-70T bolt-on transformer module for its CBT 70J-1 column speaker and CBT 70JE-1 low-frequency extension, facilitating the use of both models in 70V or 100V distributed audio systems.
The fibreglass-filled ABS transformer is available in black or white and bolts onto the back of the speakers using two supplied M6 bolts. It includes 120W, 60W and 30W transformer taps for 70V and 100V distributed lines, plus 15W taps for 70V only.
Finally, white versions of the PRX415M and PRX412M passive portable loudspeakers have been announced. The 15-inch PRX415M-WH and 12-inch PRX412M-WH both offer the same performance and capabilities as their counterparts.
