The newest addition to JBL’s CSS Commercial Series range is the CSS-1S/T surface mount loudspeaker, described by the Harman brand as ‘ideal’ for use in low to medium-level background music applications.
Referred to by the manufacturer as the ‘affordable segment’ of its product line, the CSS-1S/T is a compact two-way 100V/70V/8-Ohm surface-mount loudspeaker with a 5¼-inch low frequency and ¾-inch high-frequency driver.
Boasting a frequency response of 85Hz–18kHz, the loudspeaker also features a 10W multi-tap transformer for 100V or 70V distributed speaker lines (10W and 5W taps, plus 2.5W at 70V only) and reported 60W 8-Ohm capability. Additionally, a ball-type wall-mount bracket is included.
JBL has also announced it has upgraded its CBT Series models with the addition of new brackets. The upgrade now allows for the adjustment of up/down tilt as well as side-to-side aiming. The new swivel (pan)/ tilt brackets are packaged with the speakers, allowing for increased versatility of aiming adjustment. In addition, grilles on models CBT 70J-1 and CBT 70JE-1 are now thicker and stronger, designed to make them more robust for use in temporary special event applications.
Rick Kamlet, senior marketing manager for Commercial Installed Sound at Harman’s Loudspeaker Business Unit commented on the upgrade: ‘The update to the included brackets allows pan aiming, while the optional flush-mount brackets allow the columns to be mounted with their backs flush to the wall for instances requiring a low profile’.
JBL also announced optional MTC-CBT-FM flush-mount brackets for close-to-the-wall mounting of the CBT speakers. The bracket includes a wall piece plus speaker piece that combine together in a drop-in configuration.
