JBL targets club sound with Marquis Dance Club series loudspeakers

JBL Professional has released the Marquis Dance Club series, comprising eight new models featuring new driver configurations and enclosure designs suitable for club interiors.

The series promises to deliver ‘powerful sound and exceptional clarity’ at higher volume levels, and is designed to withstand continuous, demanding professional use.

The first model in the new range of purpose-designed loudspeakers is the MD1 high-frequency module, which features two ST400 super tweeters from JBL’s fellow Harman stablemate Selenium, providing a frequency response of 8kHz to beyond 20kHz. Meanwhile, the MD2 horn-loaded eight-inch mid-high-frequency module features two 2169H differential drive mid-frequency transducers and one 2453H-SL compression driver, and handles frequencies from 300Hz to 20kHz.

The MD3 horn-loaded low-frequency module, which includes two 2265H differential drive low-frequency transducers, provides a frequency response from 80Hz to 300Hz. Next is the MD7 subwoofer, which features two 18-inch 2269H differential drive subwoofers with four-inch, dual-voice-coil, and dual-gap vented gap cooling drivers. This model is capable of generating bass down to 25Hz.

The four ultra-high, mid-high-frequency, low-frequency and subwoofer modules can be combined to create a complete five-way loudspeaker system. This delivers extended high-frequency, high-frequency, midrange, bass and sub-bass capability, with frequency response down to 20Hz and the ability to deliver high volume levels in large spaces.

The MD46, MD49, MD52 and MD55, meanwhile, are standalone, full-range loudspeakers that can be used in a variety of room sizes and applications.

The new MD46 four-way quad-amplified full-range system features two 2265H 15-inch woofers, a CMCD-82H mid-frequency driver, a 2432H compression driver and two ST400 super tweeters. The MD49 is a four-way quad-amplified full-range system, which includes two 2265H 15-inch woofers, a CMCD-82H mid-frequency driver, a 2432H compression driver and two ST400 super tweeters.

The seventh in the series is the MD52: a two-way full-range system boasting a 12-inch 262H differential drive woofer and a 2408H-1 compression driver operating into a 90 x 50-degree progressive transition horn.

Lastly, the MD55 is another two-way full-range system, and includes a 15-inch 265H differential drive woofer and a 2408H-1 compression driver operating into a 90 x 50-degree progressive transition horn.
