Lewitt ‘sets new standards’ with flagship MTP mics

Austrian microphone specialist Lewitt has named its new MTP Live Series microphones as its flagship models, declaring that both the MTP 940 CM condenser microphone and the dynamic MTP 840 DM ‘set new standards’ in their respective segments.
The MTP 940 offers three switchable polar patterns (wide cardioid, cardioid and supercardioid), plus a three-step high-pass filter allowing users to directly influence the proximity effect depending on the sound source. Additionally, a three-position switchable pre-attenuation pad has been included to aid recording even in extreme SPL environments.
The externally biased, large-diaphragm microphone also boasts a 135dB dynamic range plus the manufacturer’s own Direct Coupling circuit design which reportedly delivers a 9dB self-noise level.
Meanwhile the dynamic MTP 840 DM is intended primarily for live use with reported ‘low self-noise, a maximum of dynamic range, and a frequency curve specially tailored for vocal recordings’. The microphone can also be used in the studio.
Once again, a three-step high-pass filter directly influences the proximity effect to suit the performer’s requirements, while a built-in, three-position switchable amplifier is onboard to allow lossless recording of even far-off sources.
Finally, both microphones include LEDs for checking settings, though they can also be switched off.
