DAS Audio has extended several of its loudspeaker lines with the Aero 8A and Avant 118A systems together with the LX-212A and LX-215A subwoofers. Measuring 245mm x 526mm x 355mm, the Aero 8A is an ultra compact powered line array speaker equipped with two class-D amplifier modules and digital signal processing. This delivers 250W and 100W to the 8-inch LF 8MN transducer and M-55N HF neodymium compression driver respectively, which is attached to a new BPS-191 waveguide-horn assembly. Housed in birch plywood and finished in durable Iso-Flex black paint, the Aero 8’s trapezoidal shape and rear located splay angle adjusters maintain the front spacing between adjacent elements, providing the array with a seamless front baffle. The splay angles range between 1° to 10° in 1° increments.
The Avant 118A is a single 18-inch rear loaded horn subwoofer system, incorporating a 1250W class-D amplifier with switch-mode power supply and DSP. The 18LX long excursion loudspeaker uses a 100mm inside/outside voice coil design, while a deep-loud EQ switch enables system response tuning between subwoofer and a punchy bass response. Like the Aero 8A, the Avant 118A is housed in 18mm birch plywood and finished in durable Iso-Flex black paint, but also uses extensive internal bracing eliminating sound colouration due to panel resonance. The system has two balanced inputs with stereo filtered output connections for satellite systems, which can be attached via a threaded pole mount socket located on the top panel.
The LX-212A and LX-215A are dual 12 and 15-inch sixth order band-pass powered subwoofers housed in 18mm birch plywood and finished in durable Iso-Flex black paint. Both models come with two balanced inputs with stereo filtered output connections for satellite systems, which can be attached via a threaded pole mount socket located on the top panel. Four versions are available of each model in passive and active modes. ‘A’ versions incorporate 1.8kW class-D amplifiers with switch-mode power supplies and DSP. The amplifier has a cardioid preset mode switch offering specific signal treatment for simplified set up of pairs in cardioid applications. ‘R’ versions are equipped with a captive rigging system that allows the subwoofers to be rigged from integrated M10 points in a one forward, one backward arrangement for cardioids configurations.
