Meyer Sound adds Leopard to Leo

Meyer Sound has revealed the latest addition to its pack of big cat themed live sound solutions in the shape of Leopard, which becomes the smallest member of the Leo family of line arrays. Additionally, the full range system is joined by the 900-LFC low frequency control element.
Together, the two systems are described by Meyer Sound founder and CEO John Meyer as ‘bringing us even closer to the goal of the ultimate linear loudspeaker system. To borrow an analogy from the auto industry, sometimes you have to just get behind the wheel and take it for spin. With Leopard and 900 LFC, you just have to listen. Once you hear it, you’ll want it’.
In practical terms the patent-pending, self-powered Leopard system is intended for use in either medium-sized venues or as a fill for larger Lyon systems. It has been optimised for an array of six cabinets or longer, with six boxes plus two 900-LFC units able to be flown using a ½-ton motor. Each cabinet comprises two 9-inch long-excursion cone drivers plus a single 3-inch HF driver coupled to a constant directivity horn through a patented REM manifold, and a 3-channel, Class-D amplifier. It’s operating frequency range is 55Hz to 18kHz while its phase response is 92Hz to 18kHz (±30-degrees).
Meanwhile the 900-LFC boasts a single 18-inch dual-coil, long-excursion cone driver driven by a 2-channel Class-D amplifier. The unit delivers an operating frequency response of 31Hz to 125Hz with a phase response of 40Hz to 110Hz (±30-degrees).
