Passive installation subs from Tannoy

Tannoy has released a new line of compact installation subwoofers named the VSX Series. Designed for installed sound or portable/live PA applications, at present the range comprises five passive enclosures, with powered versions set to be released later in 2012.

The range has been designed to provide high definition, extended low-end response for the brand’s range of installation loudspeaker systems. Three of the models are band-pass configuration, whilst the other two are direct-radiating devices. The series comprises the band-pass configuration VSX 8.2BP, VSX 10BP and VSX 12.2BP units, and the direct-radiating VSX 15DR and VSX 18DR devices.

Tannoy’s EMT (excursion management technology) has been incorporated into the three band-pass enclosures. According to the manufacturer, this ‘optimises tonal balance and harmonic output whilst delivering low frequency reinforcement at high sound pressure levels with a uniform frequency response’.

The passive subwoofers can be coupled with VX Series and VXP Series speakers for portable PA applications due to an integrated pole-mount recess and an optional VTH pole mount.

All enclosures are available in black or white, and custom colour finishes are also available. Meanwhile, the VSX 15DR and VSX 18DR offer a range of weather protecting options.
All models employ a birch ply enclosure, Integrip carry handles and integrated, recessed termination panels with NL4 speakON and barrier strip connections.
