Proel celebrates its highest achievement in loudspeaker technology

Proel Sound Systems has launched a new series of high-end speaker enclosures and high-performance digital processors.
The manufacturer describes its new Neos AXS enclosures as ‘the Group Research and Development department’s highest achievement in loudspeaker technology’.
The AXS name comes from the addition of remote access and control functions. Designed for a user base that ranges from musicians to rental companies, they are also aimed at permanent installations requiring remote control functions.
Designed with the support of Turbosound’s acoustic engineers, the Series includes five full-range and three subwoofer enclosures that incorporate the latest Proel Group amplification technologies. Each model features a DA C-Audio power module, a new generation of Class-D amplifier with switching power supply.
The on-board electronics are based on the C-Audio Core DSP platform operating at 96kHz sampling rate and 40-bit floating point bit depth. This processor offers EQ, dynamic and crossover algorithms, while providing network control via the Pronet control software. Neodymium magnet transducers, plywood cabinets with die-cast aluminium handles, dual-angle pole mount flanges, and multiple flying points round out the features of the series.
Also based on the C-Audio Core DSP platform are the new Proel PC240 and PC260 processors. These allow audio signal processing through user interface with direct access to all editing functions and remote control. The technology features programmable sound pressure level management (SPLM), thanks to the use of an internal clock, and full remote control of all functions from a connected PC.
The PC240 and PC260 each have two inputs – with AES digital inputs in the case of the PC260 – and four or six outputs, respectively. Each input offers a five-band, fully parametric EQ, 28 bands of graphic EQ, and three bands of dynamic equalisation. Each includes a fully programmable compressor/limiter and up to 600ms of delay. The outputs offer any type of crossover filter, up to 48dB/8va, and a five-band parametric EQ.
A second speaker launch from the manufacturer comes with the completion of its Flash series. Flash 5 is reportedly the most compact model in the range, and both an active (5A) and a passive (5P) model are available. It features a 100W Class-D bi-amplification module and a crossover filter, dome tweeter, coupled with an elliptical waveguide, combined with a 5-inch woofer. The two-way system features ‘studio-grade’ transducers in a trapezoidal polypropylene cabinet to allow use as stage monitor and three M6 flying points.
Flash 5 has Nearfield and Midfield active EQ presets and may be employed for short and mid range applications, as well as for permanent installations. It is available in black and white.
Finally, Proel’s R&D department has produced the HPX series of power amplifiers which have been designed for use with both the Neos and Flash passive speakers. The four models, HPX 900, HPX1200, HPX2400 and HPX2800, have output ranging from 900W to 2,800W and use power stages in Class-AB and Class-H and switching power supplies. All of these models are capable of providing their maximum rated power on a 2-Ohm load.
