The HPI-110 high-powered compact speaker system has been announced, with the manufacturer claiming that it features innovations to improve performance in real venue environments.
The HPI system reportedly tackles the problem of loss of speech intelligibility reverberant environments by extending the ‘critical distance’ via a custom HF waveguide, directing the sound away from the walls and ceiling. The asymmetrical waveguide design provides 60-degrees of horizontal dispersion at the base of the flare and 30-degrees at the top. Vertical dispersion above the box is limited to 15-degrees. The horn waveguide can also be rotated 90-degrees for horizontal installation.
An array of three HPI-110 speakers has a combined weight of 47kg, while a multi-purpose lightweight flying/installation system has also been developed. The rigging system reportedly features a ‘top spine hanging bracket’ for single speaker systems. Additionally, various attachments can be connected to make up almost any type of pan/tilt wall mount, truss mount or multi- box hanging array.
