RCF adds to Installed Sound Range

The RCF Compact Series represents a wide range of speaker designs for recorded music and live situations.

The two-way designs within the Series offer RCF’s ‘CMD’ (Coverage Matching Design) technology. This reportedly helps the transition between the high frequency horns polar responses and low frequency transducers directivity. All the waveguides are rotatable, allowing the loudspeakers to be used in either vertical or horizontal positions.

Compact Series cabinets present multiple rigging options. All are equipped with top and bottom ‘Multiplates’, offering support for M20 rigging or pole mounting points, U-brackets or rigging tracks.

A related range – the Media Series – consists of ‘medium power’ units based on Compact Series designs. The Series comprises five models, from the smallest 5-inch to the larger 2 x 6-inch, and is aimed at small to medium sized distributed systems as a complement to the RCF Compact or H Series models.

The design and look of the Media Series is consistent with the higher power Compact and H Series models, and various installation options are offered. The steel front grilles are protected with double mesh polyester cloth. All models present quick-lock audio input and link output connectors.

All Compact Series Speakers and Media Series Speakers are equipped with high power handling low impedance LICC crossovers. Conventional passive crossovers have an approximate 180-degree phase shift between the woofer and tweeter at the crossover point. Very low inductance values are used in the LICC, reportedly providing an ‘excellent transient response’ and ‘reducing phase shifts between woofer and tweeter’.

Meanwhile, additions to RCFs Column Steerable Array series include the VSA 1250 and VSA 850 vertical steerable arrays. The VSA 1250 includes 12 individual amplifiers while the VSA 850 boasts eight. Both VSA models are aimed at indoor installations with critical acoustic environments that nevertheless require as little visual impact as possible.

Away from its installed catalogue, the manufacturer has introduced its D Line speaker series. The series consists of the HD10-A and HD22-A active two way monitors, the HDL20-A active line array module and the HDL18-S sub. All D Line RCF transducers feature neodymium magnets and a high power woofer. The range also features new 1-inch and 2-inch neodymium compression drivers with a pure titanium dome, large constant directivity horns and Class-D amps.

The integrated DSP manages crossover, equalisation, soft limiter, compressor and dynamic bass boost. It controls the ongoing interaction between the audio signal, switch-mode power supply, and PWM output stages, and processes key information concerning the status of the internal signal flow from the input to the speakers monitoring impedance and shuts down in case of short-circuit. The DSP controls the thermal and soft limiters to protect the speakers.

Finally, the manufacturer is now shipping the RCF SUB Series SUB 702-AS. The active subwoofer is equipped with a single 12-inch high power woofer with 3-inch voice coil and a 700W Digipro digital amplifier.
