Scalable Axi-Mray targets any geometry

Described as bridging a gap between a variable curvature line source and a point source, Apia’s Axi-Mray has been designed for applications requiring narrow coverage (20-degrees) such as fills.

Aimed at medium throw applications, the Axi-Mray line source provides a maximum SPL of 136dB and is described as providing consistent tonal balance over distance. Operating within a frequency response of 45Hz–20kHz (-5dB standard), the 540W (AES) RMS rated two-way loudspeaker comprises a 12-inch LF woofer and 1-inch compression driver with a 2.5-inch voice coil. Weighing 38kg and housed in Baltic birch, the Axi-Mray enclosure measures 362mm-high x 703mm-wide x 516mm-deep and is finished in an IP44-rated green (RAL 6009) Polyurea coating. The rear panel contains the XLR input and output connectors together with powerCON AC inputs and outputs. Self-powered courtesy of a Powersoft amplifier module, the enclosure also boasts an RJ-45 connection providing remote access for DSP control when using the Apia software.

The Axi-Mray with its waveguide horn offers a symmetrical vertical dispersion of 20-degrees and an asymmetrical horizontal dispersion of 90-degrees (-30-degrees/+60-degrees) when vertically positioned. The trapezoidal shape of the enclosure corresponds to the 20-degree coverage plane. The cabinet can be deployed in both the vertical or horizontal plane, with a total coverage angle proportional to the number of Axi-Mray enclosures in the array. In addition, the Axi-Mray provides 90-degrees coverage for L/R FOH systems, or for extended coverage in central clusters and 360-degrees in-the-round designs. Its scalability ensures that the system can be adjusted to any audience geometry.
